Seriously? I can't believe people can stand the mixer in Ableton, it's ridiculous. Basically every DAW Has a mixer that looks like mixer with possibility of routing and seeing 50ish tracks at the same time without having a huge display. On Ableton this is a joke, you see only 10ish channels with absurd cumbersome design and how are you supposed to make adjustments to the whole mix when you can't even see the volume faders if one fourth of your tracks at the same time?

It’s never about any specific DAW, VST, Synth etc, please stop intimidating newcomers with this BS. It’s all about your skill. If the DAW works for you, perfect, if you need to switch between different DAW’s, perfect at the same. In the end absolutely nobody gives a shit in what DAW it was produced. I use FL for trap and hiphop beats and Ableton for live recordings, House and techno etc, literally everything has it’s own strengths and weaknesses

I was a beginner 3 years ago and i went with FL because of the interface looks like a videogame, it was and it is fun. But the point about the mixer is right.

Both are very good just diffrent workflows and quirks.

App does not work at all. On my laptop it only plays one cheesy track no matter how you change it. On the iPhone it crashes in AI mode and you can't use it.

I've watched so many FL studio videos and one thing I realize is 96% of them are all making the same music, the same way. Everyone uses Serum or 3xOSC, everyone uses samples from spice or cymatics and they all arrange the same. 4% are doing anything interesitng in FL studio. You named one of them. BUT, I started in Fruity loops 4 so i still have love for it and the only thing I did wrong was use another DAW since. Hard to go back to it now. When i double click a knob in Fl studio and realize i have to right click-reset to reset the knob, im instantly like IM OUT!

FL studio is like if ProTracker/FastTracker was a bad DAW.

Fl is not that complicated or hard working its user friendly so i disagree with your video than its has Unlimited updates. Actually easy to work with if you would like to have eq and such from the beginning then just create or load a preset.

It's trash but stable 😅 Ableton crashes the hack out of it on newer versions But you put strong arguments on FL a bit ugly way of doing things Even worst is pro tools but that's another topic. Anyway I believe one day Julian will be a bitwig user and evangelist. I see why you are frustrated. FL restricts you in very interesting ways. It forces you to trim your workflow. Ableton is nice, and it's the DAW I use, but it simply gives me too many freedoms. FL does really have a flavor to it. It kind of reminds me of the joke in synthesizer communities where they jokingly say "Keyboardists🤦‍♀🤮" to people who actually use their hardware in a productive manner. I think of FL users similarly, they don't get caught up in the technicalities, or at least they don't lose themselves in them that quickly. Weirdly, it does make me respect them more. Just like coders who use something as barebones as VIM or Jupyter Notebook for all their projects, if you feel me. It would take me ages to set up Ableton to the degree I want to use it for a given genre or style, in FL Studio I would have to look for simple workarounds or cheats if you will. I don't think Cloud-Rap, the Break Core revival or HexD, all genres relying on crude restructurings of source material or genre conventions would have been possible without FL.

For me the worst thing in Fl is automatization and yall know HOW IMPORTANT it is for the overall feeing.I completely agree with your opinion and i want to thank you for using your big platform to address those "issues".ITs time IL step up their game and it wont happen if everyone is yes man or keeping it silent.

yeah i started with fl studio but left for a reason. I just felt it was a toy. And making music is play for sure, but it was just not intuitive enough to allow that play to flow through me

Well for me personally as someone who is using both daws: Ableton is better at: Animations Stock plugins The way you can chain plugins FL is better at: Pattern creation Piano roll Channel rack Mixer tab (in my opinion makes more sense because thats how physical mixers work) Obviously thats just scratching the surface but a very broad overview. No need to yap that much about why fl sucks they both have their flaws hence to why i use both

Long time FL user. It’s a great daw. It’s not the Daw it’s the person behind it. Recently took a few courses on Sonic Academy and most of the courses are on ableton. I was able to follow a long with some issues but push through the courses. My realization now is FL Studio is basically ableton with extra steps. Kind of annoying having to open up your mixer every time for effects vs ableton where its all below and you can do it on the fly. Abletons automations are also so much better. Other things I like about ableton is the community behind it. The max for live plug ins look cool. FL has patcher but still has many limitations. Considering switching daws if ableton goes on sale soon one of these days. All that being said FL studio is fun and worth the challenge. The stock synths are way better and gross beat is a powerful tool. I think going further Image line needs to take notes from ableton and bitwig to modernize FL Studio and make it more beginner friendly.

I’ve always thought this, there definitely is too many work arounds & complication just to make or do something that you could do in 1 or 2 clicks in ableton. It also makes it hard to transfer that knowledge you learned in fl into other daws
